Camping Coffee Pots Guide.
Which camping coffee pots are better, a percolator, french press or a steeper? It depends, are you backpacking or camping? Camping coffee pots come in various styles and sizes. From half-ounce one cup steepers to 12-cup camp percolator coffee pots that weigh in at just over 2 pounds it comes down to what's important to you, weight, flavor, convenience, and/or quantity... The Cup.pour.ri steeper will make weight-conscious backpackers happy because of it's minimalist design and weight. Just put a tablespoon of coffee inside and steep it in a cup of hot water to your desired strength and you're ready to go. While it's easy to carry in your pack it would take a while to wake up a camp of 6 people...

If you're looking to add a camping coffee pot to your camping equipment that will last awhile, and a little extra weight isn't a big deal, look toward a stainless steel version with a glass percolator. Stainless camp coffee pots can take a beating better than most aluminum pots. Get a good size pot, you can always add less water but you can't increase the size of your pot. Large coffee pots can come in handy for heating water for dishes, washing up, or when cooking for unexpected company. REI offers a nice version. If you want more control and probably the best flavor from your coffee a french press is the way to go if you use high quality coffee and a course grind (so the grounds don't slip through the plunger). The other nice thing about a french press is that you don't need to carry coffee filters. The trade-off is that it will take a few more minutes. BackCountry offers a nice version called the GSI Outdoors Lexan JavaPress. If you don't think camping means roughing it or if you just like impressing fellow campers with fresh ground coffee then you may also want to take a look at the Traveller II Coffee Grinder. It's like bringing a bit of home with you. :-) Hopefully this camping coffee pots information will help to get you up and going that much better on those brisk mornings. ;-)
