Which Merrell Hiking Shoes Are The Best?

Which Merrell hiking shoes are the best they have to offer? The ones I mention below are at the top of the list.

One of the things that seems to keep coming up in researching Merrell hiking shoes is that even people with foot, leg and sometimes back problems love their Merrell's. It's common to hear people remark that the Merrell's they have are the most comfortable shoes they've ever owned. This isn't something you hear all the time, so to me it means something...

Merrell has also been around for over 20 years. Their warranty for their shoes and boots lasts for 1 year and applies to defective materials or workmanship. Sandals are covered for 90 days. So obviously they stand behind their product too.

As you might have noticed Merrell hiking shoes as well as Merrell shoes in general can be harder to find than other camping gear or hiking equipment because not everybody can carry them. But Altrec does. I recommend them because of their great customer service. Follow the links for a gander. :-)

Here are the best of the Merrell hiking shoes I recommend...

Merrell hiking shoes, Womens Chameleon II Gore-Tex XCR Women's Chameleon II Gore-Tex XCR. Though the name is a bit on the long side, just think of these as a better Chameleon with a more efficient Gore-Tex to help your feet breathe better. Comfortable is a word that is constantly used to describe these highly-praised shoes. I'm sure the lightweight, flexible design as well as the Q-Form molded EVA frame that's designed just for women help too. If you're a woman looking specifically for the best Merrell hiking shoes have to offer, this one is at the top of the list. Enjoy.

Mens Chamaleon II Stretch Men's Chameleon II Stretch. Merrell's Chameleons have been around for a little while now and I think they've started to develop a loyal following for those in the know. These are so good that more than one person has felt the need to buy several pairs. They may well become a classic. Something to be aware of though is that they can run a half-size small.

Shiver Moc The Men's Shiver Moc is a Merrell hiking shoe for winter. The slip on moccasin design means you don't have to hassle with shoelaces when your hands are cold. The PolartecŪ lining makes these warm as well as comfortable and also serves to pull perspiration away from your feet. If you're looking for a good winter shoe check the Shiver out.

Kids Mesa Ventilator Stretch Kid's Mesa Ventilator Stretch. If you're tired of tying your kids laces, the Mesa Ventilator offers an adjustable Z-Rap closure that makes things easy. They hold up well to what most kids can throw at them, and that says a lot coming from a shoe that weighs 7 ounces. And you know what that means... less weight you'll have to carry on your hip or shoulders at the end of an exhausted kid day. ;-)

As with any brand, some models are better than others and comfort can vary with each style of shoe. I literally wore my first pair of brown canvas Merrell Jungle Climbs to the point that you could stick pencils through the holes in the soles. If it wasn't for the possibility of stepping on broken glass or something sharp, I'd still be wearing them. They were some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever had, and probably my favorites of all time. Unfortunately Merrell discontinued the original style.

My Chameleons are comfortable too. They've held up well over the two years I've had them with normal wear at the heel and forefoot. The stitching has held up very well except for one tiny trim area where I might have rubbed it walking, all of the structural stitching is great. The only other area of concern is where the VibramŪ has pulled slightly away from one toe. Otherwise my Chameleon Merrell hiking shoes have held up great.

I think it's hard to go wrong with any of the Merrell hiking shoes I've just mentioned.
